The short version
Site Check sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. It keeps two small notes in your browser so the site works, and Cloudflare’s human check runs there too. Nothing optional is stored, so we do not ask for consent.

1What this page covers
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser. Browsers also offer session storage and local storage, which let a site keep a small note in much the same way. This page covers all three and calls them browser storage.
2What is stored in your browser
Site Check sets no cookies of its own. Browser storage is used in three places.
Your address, while a scan runs
- Name
site-check:host:{scanId}- Where
- Session storage, in your browser only.
- What it holds
- The website address you typed for that scan.
- Why
- So the scan screen can show your address straight away while the scan runs.
- How long
- Until you close the tab or window.
- Type
- Strictly necessary.
That you dismissed the notice
- Name
site-check:cookie-note- Where
- Local storage, in your browser only.
- What it holds
- A marker that you pressed OK on the cookie notice.
- Why
- So the notice does not appear again on every visit.
- How long
- Until you clear this site’s data in your browser.
- Type
- Functional, set only when you press OK.
The human check
The check on the address form is provided by Cloudflare Turnstile. It runs in your browser and is set up by Cloudflare, so Cloudflare, not us, controls exactly what it keeps there. We use it for one purpose: stopping automated submissions at the moment you start a scan.
Cloudflare states in its Turnstile Privacy Addendum that the signals Turnstile collects are strictly necessary for detecting and blocking bots, and its Cookie Policy lists the cookies it uses for its challenge products as strictly necessary. For the current details, read those two pages.
3Why we do not ask for consent
EU rules require consent before storing non-essential information on your device. They do not require it for what is strictly needed to provide a service you asked for. Everything above is either strictly necessary or a choice you made yourself by pressing OK. Nothing optional is stored, so there is nothing to accept or reject, and the notice at the bottom of the page is for information only.
4What we do not use
No analytics, no advertising trackers, and no selling or sharing of data.
5Clearing or blocking browser storage
You are in control of what your browser keeps:
- Closing the tab clears the address note in session storage.
- To clear everything else, open your browser’s settings, find the site data or cookies section (usually under Privacy or Security), and delete the data for this site. The cookie notice will then show again on your next visit.
- You can also block storage for this site. Reports will still load, but the scan screen will not remember your address and the notice will return each visit.
If you block what Cloudflare’s check needs, it may not complete, and you would not be able to start a scan.
6Changes and questions
If we change what the site stores, we update this page and the date at the top. Questions go to info@cherryrank.com. For how we handle scan data, see the privacy policy.
